Bridgit, Celtic Goddess

Bridgit (or Bride, Brigid, Brigantia, etc., her name has many spellings) is a goddess in the Celtic tradition, a tradition I am much drawn to as I wrote in my previous post..  Her name means fiery arrow.

Her color is predominately shades of green and her planet is the sun.

Here she is dressed in green garments embellished with embroidery, semi-precious beads and Celtic metal symbols.  Her hair is fiery auburn.

She holds an oak branch, her sacred tree.  Soon her feast day will be celebrated on February 2- Imbolc.

I chose her name for my Etsy shop and this blog because she is the patroness of creativity and inspiration.  She is  a triple goddess of healing, poetry and metal crafts.  She presides over all elements but especially fire and water.  There are many sacred wells dedicated to her in the Celtic world.  Read more about her HERE.

Although it has been on my mind to create goddess dolls, she was completed due to an inquiry to my Etsy shop.  I always enjoy getting requests and special orders as inspiration comes in many forms.
