Swaps
I recently participated in a swap for the Facebook Group, Fairies and Gnomes Handwork. Have you heard of swap groups?
The idea is that you create 6 items or sets worth a specified amount ($15-25) and receive 6 items or sets in return. Each swap has a theme that generally goes along with the season or holiday, but not always. You have a month or so to craft and stay in contact with the other members of the swap through posts and photos on the group page, email or messenger. By the deadline date you package up you efforts and send it off to the hostess who organizes everything, repackages and sends you back your new items Fun!.
I do not have small children at home but I will have grandchildren one day so I participate for them. I have a nice little stash of handcrafted playthings made of natural materials in the Waldorf tradition. For those with young children this is a great way to acquire a variety of items for a seasonal display, storytelling, creative play or nature table.
The theme of this swap was gnomes and the item or set needed to be worth $20-25. I chose to do peg doll gnomes and mushrooms. These spring gnomes are slightly smaller and more slender than most of the gnomes in my shop conveying the new growth of spring. They stand 4 inches tall with their hats and the mushrooms are around 3 inches.
